Subject: Progress Report on Our Anti-Spam Efforts

This morning, I am sending an email to customers with an update on Microsoft’s anti-spam progress over the past year and explaining our technology roadmap for eliminating spam as a major problem for customers. The email describes very important anti-spam work by teams in MSN, Exchange, Outlook and other business groups, as well as our LCA work with governments to help strengthen anti-spam laws and enforcement. The email also highlights the significant progress underscored by our joint announcement last week with AOL, Yahoo and EarthLink. We now have an industry consensus around email best practices, and about the importance of moving forward with technical measures to make it harder for spammers to falsify their identities – one of the main ploys they use to evade filters and deceive recipients into opening mail that may contain harmful worms and viruses.

I hope you will take a few minutes to read the email to gain a deeper understanding of our ongoing efforts to solve one of the more challenging and increasingly costly problems affecting customers and our industry today.
